Our Service
Our service area covers the busy and diverse front-end of housing customer demand. We prevent and assess statutory homelessness, offer high quality advice, and find temporary, supported and social housing for our customers.
This is a challenging time for our service. Demand is high and options are limited. We need combine efficiency with a first class customer focussed service, as well as managing customer expectations.
The Job
The role of housing demand manager is challenging and varied and we are looking for three strong people-managers, who can motivate staff and achieve service improvements and efficiencies.
Successful candidates will have a proven track record in management in a housing environment, a good understanding of housing issues and the ability to take responsibility for personal development and learning.
There are 10 Housing Demand Managers in the department, each with a different work area.
The vacant positions:
One of the vacant manager roles will have specific responsibilities for acquisition of and allocation to temporary accommodation, so will need to have had experience in accessing temporary accommodation and private rented accommodation, working with landlords and providers to sourcing suitable housing for residents. Additionally, the post will oversee the specialist support team who manage access to supported housing and floating support services in the Borough. The post forms part of the departmental management team, which takes responsibility for designing the service and implementing change to ensure continuous improvement in the department.
The remaining two vacant manager roles are within the housing solutions service. Each will manage a generic team of up to 10 housing solutions officers and will have responsibility for maximising the prevention and relief of homelessness and ensuring all staff are performing these functions lawfully and effectively. The role is varied and challenging. The successful candidates will have expertise in homelessness legislation and experience of working in a homelessness assessment, advice or options service. They will be able to demonstrate how they can help the team to achieve and improve, in a difficult economic and housing market.
