Ealing Apprenticeship Programme is recruiting enthusiastic and highly motivated people aged 16+ who live, or have studied in an Ealing school within the last 3 years, to fill apprenticeship vacancies across Ealing Council. You need to apply by 2 June 2019 and we aim to have successful applicants begin their apprenticeships in September 2019 subject to successful pre-employment check clearance.
We are looking for applicants who are interested in working in the public sector by making a difference and meeting the needs of a diverse community. Apprenticeships include training in a range of skills. As an apprentice, you will get to work in one of the council's service areas and be expected to achieve an apprenticeship at level 2 or if stated at level 3 *.
You can put up to 3 preferences of which areas you are interested in on the application form.
Current Vacancies:
Throughout April and May we may advertise additional vacancies.
The roles will be in business administration* (unless stated otherwise) within these departments for 12 months at level 2 and at 18 months for the level 3 posts.
Apprentices who are from Leaving care and work for Ealing council could access a Bursary of up to GBP 1000 to help towards their Apprenticeship*
*Via an application process
Please note that this is not an additional amount of pay. Bursary's can be used towards buying equipment or clothing.
Please note that recruitment to these roles are in a number of stages and you will be notified at each stage of your progress.
Who can apply?
Please note the following eligibility criteria apply:
1. Be aged 16 years or over and no longer in year 11 at school.
2. Hold a British or European passport or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
3. You may apply with any level of qualifications including A levels and up to Level 4 equivalent but you CANNOT apply if you hold a Level 5 or a degree. You cannot undertake an apprenticeship in the same skills area if you already have the equivalent level of qualification; it must be at a level higher than already attained. However, you can apply to undertake an apprenticeship in a new skills area.
For example, if you have a Level 2 in Business then you cannot apply for a Business Level 2 Apprenticeship. Or an ICT User Level 2, then you cannot apply for the ICT post.
However, you can apply to undertake an apprenticeship in a new skills area.
The scheme has updated its entry requirements so candidates who hold a level 4 qualification can now apply. Applicants who hold a qualification at Level 5 or above are not eligible for the Ealing council apprenticeship scheme. Do you hold a qualification at level 5 or above (e.g. degree)When answering the online screening question there is an error on question 2 which asks if you possess a Level 4 or degree. If you do possess a Level 4 you should answer NO to continue with the application.
4. Applicants will not have already undertaken an apprenticeship with Ealing council.
5. Under the rehabilitation of offenders act 1974 you must disclose any spent or unspent convictions (see section 5 of the application form). There are some service areas that will not be able to consider applications where there are spent or unspent cautions or convictions. However, many of these apprenticeship placements can be considered, only if these are declared as part of your application.
Applicants must fulfil one of the following:
a) You are a resident of the London Borough of Ealing (proof of residency will be checked)
b) You currently attend a school in the London Borough of Ealing, or have valid GCSEs obtained at an ealing school (certificates are valid for three years and will be checked)
