Political Assistant - Ealing Labour Group - fixed-term contract until May 2022
This post provides the Leader and Labour Group with administrative, policy and political support.
This role is wide-ranging and is based in the heart of the Council. Duties will range from planning agendas and recording the salient points of meetings to researching, preparing briefings and assisting with Group press and media enquiries. To be effective, you will need to be acutely aware of current legislation and political developments (on a national as well as local basis) and have an empathy with Labour Party policies.
As well as working with the Leader you will work closely with the Group Whip and Head of Democratic Services who has responsibility for the conduct of the democratic process.
You will have to attend some evening meetings.
You will have prepared for this position by working - paid or unpaid - in a political environment where you gained experience of policy development. An excellent communicator, you should have a highly professional attitude and the organisational skills to deal with shifting priorities, often in pressurised situations.
This post is politically restricted under Section 2(1) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. This is an appointment made under s9 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989, and the post is subject to the statutory restrictions applicable to such posts.
The position is for a fixed period, until May 2022.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
